Way Back When

A long time ago (in what seems like the age of the dinosaur to millennials), there weren’t too many people in business in our industry. There wasn’t too much competition, and we could get away with charging whatever we wanted.

Now there’s competition everywhere. New businesses popping up on every corner, at every turn, and across the internet. They’re everywhere!

And they’re doing it cheaper than us…

So, what are we supposed to do?

We can’t compete on price, and we really shouldn’t try. The problem with the race to the bottom is that eventually someone wins, and that’s not a race we want to sign up for.

The answer to our problem isn’t to figure out how to be as cheap as all these newbies; it’s to work on producing a product worth buying, finding a client base worth selling to, and making sure they know that we’re the only one who’s got what they need.

I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to reach my destination.
