I’m Not Worthy

We’re all looking for it: success; successful relationships, a successful life, a success career. Success is the prize, the Holy Grail, the goal we’re all striving to reach.

But, it’s hard to attain. Success is cryptic, difficult to understand, and even harder to achieve.

We can’t help but wonder why more of us can’t break through; why it seems only a limited few will ever reach the promised land.

But, that’s the whole thing, isn’t it?

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

But it’s not.

Achieving success is draining, taxing, and back-breaking. It’s not for the weak. Success is a demanding taskmaster, and delights in ruining the lives of those it finds unworthy.

The thing is, though, it’s us: we’re the ones. We get to decide whether or not we’re worthy of the prize. Only we get a say in how far we’re willing to go to cross that finish line.

If we never give up, it means that there’s only one other choice: to keep pressing onward, always moving forward, always reaching, always striving toward our goal.

Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.
