We hear about them all the time: the businesses that become an overnight success.
We all want that: to be one of those overnight success stories. We want to start something new and be the talk of the town the very next day. Instant gratification. It’s how we do things now.
At least that’s what we think.
The reality is that there are no overnight successes in the small business world. Nowadays, it’s too easy for people to get in. Everyone and their grandmother owns their own business now. The barrier to entry has been lifted, and everyone’s in the game.
So, what the hell are we supposed to do?
We’ve got to do the only thing we can: make something worth buying. Offer a product that people want to talk about. Create something that surprises the hell out of our clients. Shock them. Wow them. Give them something worth posting about.
We may have to do it for a while. We may struggle. We may doubt ourselves. We may get beat up a bit. We may have to take our lumps.
In fact, it’s quite likely that we will.
But, we still have to do it. Listen to the feedback (even though it may be brutal). Take away the important points, make some changes to the process, and put yourself back out there again.
Eventually, hopefully, maybe, we’ll be one of the lucky ones who becomes an overnight success.
