Five People

Jim Rohn, author and speaker, famously said that “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

We should take his advice to heart, and not be afraid to develop relationships with people who are more successful than we are. We’re lifted up by those who’ve gone to where we’re trying to get, and dragged down by those who will never even attempt to get there.

We should constantly evaluate our inner circle, working hard to decide who (or what) is #6, and moving on from those people and influences that don’t prioritize personal growth and development.

In our always on, always connected world, we’ve got to be increasingly vigilant about the people and things that influence us. Recognizing the effect that others have on us is the first step to becoming a better business owner (and a better person).
