Field of Dreams

We’ve done all the work. We’ve got the license. We’ve bought our insurance. We made a cool looking logo. We’ve designed our business cards and brochures. We’ve got our website up and running. We’ve figured out our software. We’ve been shaking hands and kissing babies.

Now, we’ve just got to wait. They’ll come.

Sounds great, but it’s not right.

Author and marketing guru Seth Godin‘s statement that “Build it, and they will come only works in the movies… build it, nurture it, engage them and they may come…” makes much more sense in today’s business world. We’ve got to constantly engage our target audience, keeping our brand top of mind and our name on their lips.

Sitting back and waiting is over. Build it and wait for them to come, and you’ll end up sitting in a field of broken dreams.
