Judging Feet

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

George Eliot

For as long as we can remember, we’ve been told that we shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover; that things aren’t always as they seem; that it’s what’s inside that really matters.

But people make decisions based on outward appearances and first impressions all the time. If we’re walking down the street and a disheveled, staggering person carrying an axe is heading straight for us, we’re be crazy to do anything other than to remove ourselves from a potentially dangerous encounter.

We (likely correctly) judged that book by its cover.

Since we know that our clients are likely to make a decision about doing business with us based on the outward appearance of our company (the way we look, the vehicle we drive, the user-friendliness of our website, etc.), why would we do anything other than put our best foot forward?

Always put your best foot forward, because you never know where your next step may lead you.
