Eating Elephants

Big goals.

We’ve all got them, but we’re often so overwhelmed by the enormity of our aspirations that we fold under the pressure. We stress out over the number of things that we need to get done, a seemingly endless to-do list, and we buckle under the weight of our tasks.

I’ll never be able to get all this finished…

Instead of trying to do everything at once, maybe we need to focus our attention on just the first challenge. We should simply pick one thing, something we know that we can conquer, and get it done.

Once we’ve overcome that challenge, and we’re now an undeniable success (having completed our first task), maybe we can pick another.

There’s only one way to eat an elephant. One bite at a time.
