Defending Conversation

No matter who we are, entrepreneur, small business owner, corporate executive, or just a regular Joe, we all experience adversity, and it often comes our way courtesy of our friends, family, and customers.

Whenever we’re faced with these problems, it’s all too easy to go on the offensive, belligerently defending our position.

The problem with becoming so defensive is that it ends up offending the very individual we’re trying to communicate with. By aggressively attempting to make them understand our point of view, we eliminate any possibility of open communication.

They’re no longer hearing what we’re saying, only the way we’re saying it.

What if, instead of trying to talk at them, we made an honest attempt to talk with them?

An open and productive two-way conversation. Now there’s a thought.
