Broke

It’s tough breaking into a new field. No one wants to give us a hand and we feel like we’ve got to do something different to make any headway.

But we don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

The first thing we should do is figure out who our customer is, where they hang out, and how to reach them. Look at your competitors to find out exactly what they’re doing to get customers. Make a list of their tactics and rank them according to what you believe is the most efficient way of doing things.

And then do that.

Yeah, that’s right. Copy what’s already working for your competition.

We often fool ourselves into believing that we need to do something new and different from what everyone else is doing. The surprise is that we should just do the same thing that they’re already successfully doing. We just need to put our own spin on it and figure out how to do it in a better way.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. (Just tweak it a bit to make it your own).
